Dr. Anand Ramamurthy is a pioneer in Liver Transplantation and Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery. First Indian liver transplant fellow and a founding member of South India’s first successful liver transplant program in Chennai (2008).
Trained at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi and at King’s College Hospital, London. He led his team to complete 1,000 liver transplants in 2019, becoming only the fourth program in India to reach this milestone, including the highest number of deceased donor liver transplants.
He has established 15 liver transplant programs across 7 states, expanding care through a hub-and-spoke model. An active academician, he mentors DNB students and convenes the Fellowship in Liver Transplantation under TN Dr. MGR Medical University.
